Course Description 

This webinar will review the current state of the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak as well as evidenced based strategies necessary to mitigate transmission to dental healthcare professionals and patients. The program will review a common sense approach to ensuring safety and also ensuring continuity of clinical operations within individual practice environments.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this course, the participants will be able to:

  • Review the core elements of a comprehensive Infection Control strategy necessary to respond to emerging infectious diseases such as Coronavirus
  • Discuss common sense approaches to ensuring patient and dental healthcare worker safety related to novel infectious diseases

Dr. Hudson Garrett is the President and CEO of Community Health Associates, LLC. and has a faculty appointment as an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of Louisville School of Medicine. He also co-founded the nonprofit Infection Prevention Institute to help shepherd dissemination of best practices of infection prevention and control across the healthcare continuum of care globally. He has served on national boards in the areas of environmental services, dental infection control, acute care infection control, post-acute care infection control, and vascular access. He has served on panels related to disinfection and sterilization with both the FDA and EPA. Dr. Garrett has lectured in more than 25 countries and given testimony to government and regulatory agencies on a variety of topics related to infectious diseases.
